Testimonies From Schools Experience At Camp Columba
Comments from Sam Keen, Deputy Principal of Arthur Street School
Our experience at Camp Columba was an extremely positive one. The facilities were great, activities varied and age appropriate allowing full participation for all students.
The instructors were professional and engaged with the children, explaining the necessary techniques without overloading the groups. Their activities/games were varied. Every child could succeed regardless of their ability.
The Camp Columba staff were willing to assist but very much kept in the background allowing us "to do our thing"!
Parents have given many positive comments about their camping experience. The instructions given by Adventure Southland Instructors meant they were able to lead their groups with confidence.
The week has been brilliant! Children have learnt plenty about themselves and their ability to work with others. For good reason the camp is fully booked fore the next year. We look forward to returning in 2012!

St Joseph's Balclutha's first camp at Camp Columba
I highly recommend Camp Columba to any teachers who are organising a school camp. St Joseph's took Year 5-8 and the children were all challenged, but all experienced success.
They hugely enjoyed the variety of activities: low ropes, kayaking, flying fox and orienteering. They were stimulated, stretched and tired by the end of the day! The children raved about the camp from the moment the bus pulled up and have already whet the appetites of next year's group.
The organisation was made very easy thanks to Jo in the office, and to Tre from Adventure Southland. All the interactions were professional and supportive with adults and with children. The perfect finish was the free values session. Both my teachers and I learnt many more games from Josh, who is a natural with the kids.
Camp Columba provided a great experience for our children, and we can't wait to be back next year.

Children have great sense of pride after a day visit to Camp Columba
West Gore School took 3 classes of year 3/4 students to Camp Columba for a day trip. We rotated around the low ropes course, team games ran by the teachers and rock climbing ran by an Adventure Southland instructor. The day provided us with the ability to teach our school values and focus on the Key competancies in an outdoor setting. The children were challenged physically, had to work as a team, encourage and support each other and overcome personal challenges. There was a great sence of pride and collaboration as each event was succesfully achieved by each group. Back in the classroom the next day the children were buzzing with the things they and others had done and the sence of team spirit continued. I would recommend a day trip here to any school. Organisation was easy and the staff at Camp Columba and Adventure Southland were very helpful.
