Who are we?
History
Camp Columba was established in 1957 by the Mataura District Bible Class Committee to hold Easter and Labour Weekend Camps for young people from around Southland. These camps still run and are a special part of the Christian heritage of Southland; many of the parents and grandparents of the young people that come today testify to the amazing experiences they had at Camp Columba. We hear many stories of people who met their future husband or wife at Camp Columba, also of people who came to know God in a special way through Camp Columba. It is with this unique heritage in mind that we look to the future and plan to continue excellent camps for children, young people and adults that they may know the love of God in a fresh, new way.
The Camp is owned by the Otago Foundation Trust Board (part of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand) and is governed by a Board. There is a healthy working relationship between management, staff and the Board creating a dynamic environment and exciting possibilities.
